Key changes for fencing businesses

Several changes affecting fencing and gate businesses have taken effect from 1 July 2025. These include updates to wages, superannuation, registration fees, and workplace obligations.

The national minimum wage increases by 3.5%. Applies to the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025.

The Superannuation Guarantee rises from 11.5% to 12% from 1 July. Employers must update payroll systems to reflect this.

Eligible small businesses will receive a $150 electricity rebate, split across two $75 credits applied automatically in the second half of 2025.

Interest charged by the ATO on or after 1 July will no longer be tax deductible. Existing interest charges before this date remain deductible.

Government-funded Paid Parental Leave will include superannuation contributions from 1 July 2025.

Right to Disconnect – from 26 August 2025, small business employees may refuse unreasonable contact outside of work hours. Employers should review policies and contracts now.

What You Need to Do:

  • Update payroll and super settings from 1 July
