Fencing grants available

Landholders in Western NSW can apply for funding to undertake fencing works individually on their property or as part of a collective on adjoining properties.

The $3.7 million Fencing Biosecure Production Zones and Pest Knockout Grant Program will offer support to Western NSW landholders to manage pest animals, pest plants and control grazing pressure, increasing primary production and providing benefits to the local environment, as well as local communities and economies.

Expressions of interest close at 12pm AEDT on Wednesday 25 January 2023.

The project comes at a time when floods, severe storms and ongoing wet seasonal conditions are making it challenging for landholders to manage pest animals, pest plants and control total grazing pressure.

HOW WILL THE PROGRAM HELP LANDHOLDERS IN WESTERN NSW?

The Fencing Biosecure Production Zones and Pest Knockout Grant Program will offer support to landholders through on-ground projects including fence construction, implementing best practice grazing management and coordinated pest animal control.

The on-ground projects will also assist landholders and industry prepare for emergency animal disease outbreaks, including foot and mouth disease and lumpy skin disease.

In addition to supporting landholders, the program will benefit the local environment, local communities and stimulate local economies.

WHAT SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE UNDER THE PROGRAM?

Landholders can receive funding assistance to undertake fencing works either individually on their property or as part of a collective on adjoining properties.

Once program areas are identified, further funding for complementary pest weed and pest animal activities will be made available.
