Queensland government has released two grants of $400,000 to help fund improvements such as bollards, lockable fencing, and enhanced perimeter controls.
A new $40 million Secure Communities Partnership Program has been announced to support small and family businesses across Queensland with crime prevention infrastructure.
The initiative will assist local councils to implement measures that improve safety and security for businesses and the broader community.
Under the program, each council will be eligible to apply for up to two grants of $400,000 to help fund improvements such as CCTV, alarm systems, security lighting, bollards, lockable fencing, and enhanced perimeter controls.
Focus on Practical Crime Prevention
The funding is intended to support infrastructure that deters break-ins, theft and property damage, while also addressing concerns raised by small business operators about rising insurance costs linked to crime-related claims.
The program’s first round will provide $10 million in funding, with three additional rounds to follow over the next three years.
This initiative forms part of a broader approach to crime prevention, combining infrastructure upgrades with recent legislative changes aimed at improving community safety.
