Truck Driver Fatally Crushed by Gate at Dandenong South Depot

WorkSafe Victoria is investigating the death of a 57-year-old truck driver who was fatally crushed by a gate at a Dandenong South depot last Thursday.

The incident occurred as the man was attempting to close an eight-metre-wide gate while leaving the depot at the end of his shift. It is understood the gate ran past its supports, became unstable, and fell on top of him. He was discovered by another driver at approximately 11:45pm.

This tragedy marks the 14th confirmed workplace fatality in Victoria for 2025. At the same time last year, there had been 21 work-related deaths.

WorkSafe is continuing its investigation to determine the cause and assess whether appropriate safety measures were in place.
