Marksman Design Co wins Rural Gates Award

Marksman Design Co. has been recognised for its outstanding craftsmanship and thoughtful design with the Innovation & Excellence in Gates – Rural Award.

The winning project features a custom cantilever sliding gate that blends effortlessly into the property’s natural landscape and complements the existing stone walls. Despite the driveway’s alignment challenges – caused by non-perpendicular stonework – the gate was meticulously fabricated to achieve a seamless and functional result.

Constructed from steel and finished in Dulux Elements Weathered Steel, the gate delivers both a rustic, aged aesthetic and long-term durability, enhancing the property’s entrance in both form and function.

This project won the Innovation & Excellence in Rural Gates category at the Australian FENCING Awards for its strong, purpose-built design tailored to rural conditions.

Installed on a sloped gravel driveway, the custom steel sliding gate features a durable powder-coated finish, precision fabrication, and integrated keypad and remote access – delivering secure, low-maintenance performance for remote and large-property access.

Products used in the project included:

  • FAAC automation Centsys
  • D5 SMART gate motor G
  • SPEAK intercom system
  • Keypad access control
  • Edgesmith E-loop exit sensor
  • Slinco Powder Coating
  • Dulux Elements Weathered Steel finish
  • Global Access Hi Motions cantilever hardware

This project stood out in the Rural category for its ability to combine functional access control with design sensitivity to a natural and traditional setting.

The gate’s construction and finish respect the rural aesthetic while incorporating high-performance automation and security features. This demonstrates what is possible when durability, innovation, and rural character are brought together in a cohesive design.
