SGA Balustrades wins Decorative Screens national Award

SGA Balustrades delivered a standout solution for a large-scale residential renovation in Seaforth, where the brief was to enhance a plain façade without major structural changes. Their response was a custom-designed curving vertical slat screen system that added striking movement, texture, and architectural depth to the home. This project won the Decorative Screens category for the Australian FENCING Awards.

The project required exceptional precision. Each section of the feature was fabricated using 90 x 16 mm aluminium slats, welded onto custom slotted frames. The aluminium was powder coated in Duratec Zeus Natural White, specified for its durability in coastal conditions and visual harmony with the overall palette.

Installation was a key challenge. Due to the size and positioning of the screens, components were manufactured in sections for safe scaffolding access and bolted to a prepared frame onsite. The result is a seamless curved facade that is both functional and visually refined.

A matching pedestrian gate was also fabricated using the same slat system, fitted with D&D Technologies Tru-Close hinges and a Deluxe Lokk Latch, all in colour-matched white.

This project exemplifies innovation in form and function. It uses craftsmanship, accurate pre-production work, and thoughtful material specification to meet a demanding architectural brief and exceed client expectations.
